Description
English: Postal History, Civil War POW mail

Mailed September 9, 1864 from New Philadelphia, Ohio to Union POW at Andersonville, Georgia prison.
Mail from the North to Union POW in Confederate prison was carried via Old Point Comfort to the CSA War dept. in Richmond. It was examined and/or censored there and sent outside the CSA postal system to prisons via military courier.
