Description
English: MARKHAM WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1852 AS A DEPOT ALONG THE MANASSAS GAP RAILROAD.  THE RAILROAD DEPOT PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE THROUGHOUT THE CIVIL WAR, AND MARKHAM WAS CONTINUALLY OCCUPIED BY FEDERAL TROOPS FOR MOST OF THE WAR’S DURATION.  CIRCA 1900 FREIGHT STATION
