English: M60 Manchester Orbital Motorway This section of the M60 was the final link and was completed in 2000 this was 40 years after the completion in 1960 of the very first section between Stretford and Eccles.
In comparison, the first 2½ mile length of M25, the London Orbital Road, was opened in 1975 with the final section opening 11 years later in October 1986. The M25 is 117 miles long compared with only 35 miles of the M60. Since this four lane section opened, between Oldham and Denton, it has been plagued by flooding problems and has undergone a huge amount of roadworks to rectify the problem since 2001.
