| Description |
The Egyptian-themed Luxor, completed in 1993, consists of a black glass pyramid and a Sphinx-shaped entrance. The pyramid is topped off with a bright cluster of xenon spotlights that shine into the sky. The beam, which symbolizes the Egyptian deceased rising into the afterlife, is extremely bright. It is said that the beam can be seen from Los Angeles, over 250 miles away; while it is a bit of an exaggeration, I once was on an airplane heading for Los Angeles at night, and I could see the beam well over halfway out. |
