Description

People just love HDR these days, with more images of this type being posted than of anything else. There are some out there who think it is almost blasphemous to merge photos of differing exposures, to create a pseudo artistic piece…they refuse to refer to it as photography.

However, HDR does have its place and if done correctly, can create something realistic and detailed – without covering up a poor photograph with a cool effect. Im by no means that good at HDR, there are so many people out there with a real eye for what it is to combine images in HDR. Trey Ratcliff for one, really has set the benchmark for what a lot of people aspire to create.

My only real issue with HDR is that a lot of the time it is overdone to the point of looking painterly. It loses that photographic quality and instead of assisting in showing what our eyes saw at the time, becomes something completely different. Thats why I do not always like HDR images and I think there are people out there who feel the same.
