Lepidolite (trilithionite) from Rožná, Czech Republic

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Polished slab of very fine grained purple lepidolite (trilithionite) from LCT pegmatite near Rožná, Czech Republic. Size 15x8 cm. Lepidolite was first described from Rožná pegmatite by German chemist Martin Heinrich Klaproth in 1792. Later - with modern anayltical methods - it was identified that lepidolite is in fact either trilithionite or polylithionite (IMA valid minerals). With modern demand for rechargable batteries, lepidolite is considered as an important lithium ore.
