English: Handwritten on image: This is where we live see. 1812 E Republic c/o Lane Apt, Apt D (d).
Postmarked July 11, 1911, from Seattle; one-cent stamp. Handwritten on verso: Seattle - Wn. Monday July 10 - '11. Dear "Emma, Ernst & little '[Annita?].'" We all arrived home safe & sound. Little Wallie is very well again & haveing [sic] a good time. Walter is very Busy again since he got back. Worked all Day Sunday too. Love from us all - We are Your Loveing [sic] "Rose & Walter." This is a Photograph of the apt. where we live - the Lane Apt. Bye Bye Rose. Addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Ernst Studerus in Port Townsend, Wash.
Named for George B. Lane, who leased the building from owner Gertrude Barnes shortly after completion. A.J. Barnes was the architect. Building is still extant 2021. |
