Español: La famosa pintura "La maja vestida" de Francisco de Goya, fotografiada al sol, en la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, de Madrid, en el siglo XIX. El fotógrafo Laurent (Juan Laurent Minier, o Jean Laurent) tuvo que fotografiar esta pintura en el exterior, sobre un caballete, con iluminación directa solar. A partir de 1865 Laurent fotografió muchas pinturas originales en el exterior de los museos, pues en los interiores la luz natural era insuficiente.

Entre los años 1865 y 1879, Juan Laurent fotografió toda clase de pinturas, con luz solar directa, especialmente en el exterior del Museo del Prado, y en un patio del Museo de la Trinidad (de la calle Atocha, de Madrid).

En cambio, Laurent no pudo fotografiar con luz solar directa las famosas pinturas negras de la Quinta de Goya (o Quinta del Sordo), por ser unas pinturas murales. En ese caso, en 1874, Laurent debió utilizar iluminación eléctrica, pues ya contaba con un potente equipo portátil para dar luz eléctrica. Y sus fotografías de las 14 pinturas negras presentan una extraña iluminación, con un gran resplandor.
