Around the same time, Krist Novoselic, who was two years older, met Buzz Osborne and Matt Likin, who were from nearby Montesano and played in a band called The Melvins. When their drummer quit, Novoselic suggested his friend Dale Crover. The reconstituted Melvins began practicing on the back porch of Crover's parents' house in Aberdeen, with Novolselic and Cobain often hanging out. The two found common ground on their love of the Melvins and punk rock, and in 1986 they decided to form their own band.
