Description
English: Photograph showing folio 1 verso and folio 2 recto of the British Library's manuscript copy of the Kurdish national epic, the masnavi love story Mem û Zîn by Ahmad Khani (Ehmed Xani). (Shelf mark: Or. 11996, http://searcharchives.bl.uk/IAMS_VU2:IAMS032-003468566) The manuscript was copied in 1221 AH (1806/1807 CE) by ᵓabd al-Bāqī bī-Talqīn, under the patronage of Arjumand Ibrāhīm Khān. The Mem û Zîn text itself begins on folio 3 verso, where the original pagination begins. This photograph shows additional couplets of poetry and graffiti added with these folios, with dates of 1225 AH (1810/1811 CE) and 1243 AH (1827/1828 CE).
