| Description |
English: Leeds express arriving at King's Cross with the pioneer Thompson A1 Pacific. View westward from the York Road platform at the London terminus of the ECML. Passing the large King's Cross signalbox is the 07.50 from Leeds Central - soon after Nationalisation and at the time of the Locomotive Exchanges (q.v.)- headed by Thompson A1/1 4-6-2 No. 113 'Great Northern'. This was the 9/45 Thompson rebuild of Gresley GNR Pacific No. 4470 of 1922 and the precursor of the successful Peppercorn A1 Pacific class. As BR No. 60113 it survived until 11/62. Beyond is the 'Bottom' Locomotive Yard, with A3 Pacfic No. 61 discernible. |
