Description John Bridges (died 1724), of Barton Segrave, Northamptonshire, 1726 engraving by George Vertue after 1706 painting by Sir Godfrey Kneller. Azure, three water bougets or (?) Arms of John Bridges (1666–1724), of Barton Segrave, Northamptonshire, lawyer, antiquarian and topographer "Hospitii Lincolniensis Socio" (Bencher of Lincoln's Inn). A portrait of Bridges, painted by Sir Godfrey Kneller in 1706, was engraved by George Vertue in 1726, shows the arms: Azure, three water bougets or within a bordure ermine, with the same motto. Arms of Bridges baronets, of Goodneston, Kent (cr.1718), and Bridges, Baron FitzWalter (cr.1868): Azure, three water bougets or within a bordure ermine (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.122).
