Description
English:
Saint John the Baptist parish church. (Local name: Kerche). It was built in 1821-1822 to replace the church, which was in a very dilapidated and narrow state. The building was designed by Jakab Stann (?) master builder from Szekszárd in neoclassical style. It is a free-standing church with a western façade tower, with a narrower sanctuary than the nave, with a gabled sacristy on the south side. Both the nave and the sanctuary are covered with pitched gable roofs. The western main façade, closed by a tympanum above the trifly cornice with giant pilasters, has a stone-framed gate in its central axis, and stone statues of the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph in basket-arched niches on both sides (material: sandstone, style: Neo-Classicist, Condition in 2020s: needs restoration, size: life-size). In the central axis of both side facades of the nave are stone-framed side entrances. In the nave, sacristy and sanctuary there is a vault of Czech glass. The plans were approved by the Hungarian Royal Chief Building Committee belonging to the Lieutenant Governor's Council. The costs of the construction were covered by the so-called study foundation estate established on the territory of the Szekszárd Abbey, to which Mözs also belonged. - c. 34 Szent István Street, Mözs neighbourhood (till 1989 separate village), Tolna, Tolna County, Hungary

Keresztelő Szent János Plébániatemplom (népi megnevezése: Kerche). 1821-1822-ben építették az erősen leromlott állapotban lévő és szűkké vált templom helyébe. Az épületet Stann Jakab (?) szekszárdi építőmester tervezte klasszicista stílusban. Az utcavonaltól beljebb, kiteresedésben szabadon álló, nyugati homlokzati tornyos templom, a hajónál keskenyebb, egyenes záródású szentéllyel, ennek déli oldalán kontyolt nyeregtetős sekrestyével. A hajó és a szentély is kontyolt nyeregtetővel fedett. Az óriás pilaszterekkel tagolt triglifes párkány fölötti timpanonnal lezárt nyugati főhomlokzat középtengelyében kőkeretes kapu, kétoldalt kosáríves fülkékben Szűz Mária és Szent József kőszobrai (állítás ideje: 1822, anyaga: homokkő, stílus: klasszicista, Állaga 2020-as években: restaurálásra szorul, mérete: életnagyságú). A hajó mindkét oldalhomlokzatának középtengelyében kőkeretes oldalbejáratok. A hajóban, a sekrestyében és a szentélyben csehsüveg boltozat. A terveket a helytartótanácshoz tartozó Magyar Királyi Főépítő Bizottság hagyta jóvá. Az építkezés költségeit a szekszárdi apátság,-melyhez Mözs is tatozott- területén kialakított ún. tanulmányi alapítványi birtok fedezte. - A torony kupoláján is az 1821-es évszám olvasható - Falképek: 20. század. Berendezés: 19. század második fele. Főoltárkép (az oltárképen Keresztelő Szent János megkereszteli Jézust): 1891 (Graits Endre). A jobb oldalt van a Szűz Máriá 'szobros' mellékoltár. Balra Szent Józseffel és a kisded Jézussal szobros mellékoltár. További színes kb. méter magas Szent Teréz és Jézus szobrok (19.sz. vége?) Mennyezeti freskó: "Íme, az Isten Báránya, aki elveszi a világ bűneit!" Info: mozs.blogspot.com/2011/03/katolikus-templom.html - A főhomlokzat előtt az utca vonalában: vasráccsal elkerített kőkereszt korpusszal, talapzatán 1833-as évszám. - A község három nemzetiségű: német, szlovák és magyar, ezért a XIX. század végéig három nyelven tartották a szentmisét. Havonta kétszer németül, egyszer szlovákul, egyszer magyarul. - Műemlék azonosító: 8788, törzsszám: 4213- Tolna megye, Tolna, Mözs településrész (1989-ig önálló falu), Szent István utca kb. 34.
