| Description | One of the first sights that greets you as you enter the exhibition area of the Kyoto Railway Museum in Kyoto, Japan is a driving trailer of Japan's first Shinkansen bullet train. The car is from the 0 series- the first Shinkansen trains which entered service in 1964. The maximum operating speed was 220 km/h (135 mph) and more than 3,200 cars of this 0 series were built. This class of Shinkansen train was withdrawn in December 2008.In addition to this, the Kyoto Railway Museum also museum displays railway uniforms, tools and an abundance of other railway paraphernalia from past eras and boasts one of Japan's largest dioramas, in which miniature trains are controlled single- handed by a skilled operator as they traverse the intricately detailed landscape. There is also a variety of interactive exhibitions where visitors can perform the duties of a train conductor or drive virtually a life sized train with a simulator fitted.
