Summary[edit]
DescriptionJan de Wit tijdens afgaand water in Zeeland.jpg |
English: In the early 1960s, the ship was refurbished with the materials and knowledge available at the time. In 2004 the ship was refurbished again with the aim of a complete restoration into a Sailing Monument.
This was possible through expert guidance and actual help from the technical commissioner (Ad Huijsman) of the conservation association 'Oude Glorie', the director of the National War and Resistance Museum, and also historian and chairman of the Prince Bernard Cultuurfonds. After a good restoration plan had been drawn up, it became possible to apply for a loan from the Restoration Fund, so that the restoration to Monument became feasible. The success of the restoration was recognized, the ship was registered as a Sailing Monument and honored during the Maiden voyage as the official opening ship of 's-Hertogenbosch Maritime. In mid-2017 it became Dutch heritage. |
