JPEG file comment | BRAY, Jan de
(b. ca. 1627, Haarlem, d. 1697, Haarlem) The Governors of the Guild of St Luke, Haarlem 1675 Oil on canvas, 130 x 184 cm Frans Halsmuseum, Haarlem This exceptional group portrait is probably the work of no fewer than four hands, although it goes under the name of Jan de Bray, the man second from left. The painters Jan de Jong and Jan van Hotingh painted their own likenesses, while the brothers Jan and Dirck de Bray painted each other.
