[Original caption] The Jummas Masjid, Old Poor House Road. Jumma Masjid means "Friday Mosque" they say, and so it is not surprising that more than one Indian temple bears the name. The result of remarkable labour in intractable material, they are, if not "sermons in stones", history in stones which students slowly decipher and try to demonstrate their mystery and meaning. [end]
