Summary[edit]

Description
English: Illustration of iterativity and interdependency. In each time-point, the system, in this case an adolescent, interacts with the context and both the adolescent and context change as a result of this (i.e., interdependency between system and context). This changed state is then the building block for the state of the adolescent and the context in the next time-point (i.e., iterativity). These concepts of iterativity and interdependency between system and context are rooted in complex dynamic systems theory as it is used in developmental psychology (see for example Van Geert, 1994).
