Summary[edit]

Description 1987 view of the interior of one of the Bombardier LRVs (light rail vehicles) that made up the entire fleet of the single-route MAX Light Rail system at the time, looking towards one end from the car's articulation/turntable. Note the bell cords above the windows, which passengers would pull down on to ring a bell to tell the operator they wished to get off at the next station – a feature that was effectively only needed during the line's early years (when ridership was much lower) and later only for the line's lesser-used stations at times of day when ridership was low (such as late night and Sunday mornings). The bell cords were removed in 1994, after which all MAX trains were required to stop at every station at all times. The seat cushions were in colors of red and dark burgundy at that time, whereas after overhauls in the 2000s and 2010s they were purple.
