Summary[edit]
DescriptionInscription at top of the east tower, Clifton Suspension Bridge - geograph.org.uk - 221269.jpg |
English: Inscription at top of the east tower, Clifton Suspension Bridge. Seen from the top floor of the Observatory on Clifton Down.
"Commenced 1836. Isambard Kingdom Brunel FRS Engineer. Completed 1864. John Hawkshaw FRS William Henry Barlow FRS Engineers. Cochran Grove and Co Contractors" In St Pauls Cathedral is the Latin inscription to its architect Sir Christopher Wren "If you seek his monument look around you". Surely this bridge, finished after his death, must stand in the same way as Brunel's monument? See also 221271 |
