In safe hands, if the mother or nurse is intel-ligent, there should be not only no injury, but positivegood, from its continued use. REMOVAL OF SCYBALA. Hardened round balls or fragments of fseces will fre-quently be caused when the stool remains very long inthe colon, or when the sigmoid flexure has an unusuallength; in such instances the injection of either */2 pintof lukewarm sweet oil or glycerin will soften these scybalaand aid in their expulsion. At times these balls will be ashard as marbles, and may require the aid of a small scoop(a very small teaspoon will do) to aid in their removal. DRUG TREATMENT. A great many drugs are indicated and contra-indi-cated in the treatment of constipation. Twenty drops of the above mixture in a teaspoonful ofwater three times a day, for children about three months old. Atthe age of six months, double the dose, or 20 drops three times aday.
