English: In 1890, Amos D. Gunn bought land on the north fork of the Skykomish River, in southern Snohomish County, Washington. He named his new settlement Index, after nearby Mount Index. A few years later, Index became a stop on the Great Northern Railway. This photo, taken by Anders Wilse, shows the main street of Index, Washington in about 1900.
