Text Appearing Before Image: The aircraft carrier SARA- TOGA is sinking by the stern, seven hours after the Test B explosion. She was more than 500 feet from the Zeropoint, yet her below-the-waterline hull took a bad beating; much of her superstruc- ture including her stacks had been demolished, and all moored airplanes and materials on deck had been swept over- board.

Text Appearing After Image: A Navy fireboat washes down the deck of the battleship NEW YORK after Test B. This procedure was followed for many of the target ships prior to sending inspection parties aboard, since great quantities of radioactive water had been thrown onto the decks.
