English: Dr. Stephen W. Edwards has retired as Director of the Regional Parks Botanic Garden. An East Bay Regional Parks District employee for a total of 43 years, Steve served as Director of the Garden for 30 years.
Steve is as close to a polymath as you are likely to meet in this day and age. His PhD in paleontology is just the beginning. He is a top-notch field botanist and horticulturist as well as being one of the finest students of Califonia natural history, In addition, Steve possesses a deep interest in early California history, evidenced by his profound knowledge of the life and times of Juan Murrieta. He is also a passionate disputant on schools of philosophy. And, not of least importance, he is a fan of C. S. Forester. The garden could not have had a better steward. |
