Summary[edit]

Description
English: This depiction of Guru Nanak is found at the beginning of the manuscript. He was the founder and first Guru of Sikhism.

Commissioned in 1839 by Kharak Singh (1801–1840), the eldest son and heir of Mahārājā Ranjīt Singh. The is found with the janampatra (horoscope) of Naunihāl Singh, his son. It is now preserved at the British LIbrary. For more details:

Of particular significance are the dress, the prayer beads, the tilak on his forehead, the cap and a miniature in Mughal style of Indian paintings.
