Summary[edit]

Description
English: Greater Works Christian Fellowship, 210 Southampton Street, Buffalo, New York, April 2020. For those who observe attentively, his beautiful brown brick Perpendicular Gothic church building sports some interesting details: the unusual niched buttresses framing the stained-glass window and entrance on the façade, the battlements crowning the flat-roofed steeple, the stone-capped parapet. The building was erected in 1919 as home of Emmaus Lutheran Church, a congregation founded thirty years earlier and notable as one of the last remaining Buffalo churches of the denomination to continue the use of the German language in services, which they did until 1922. The congregation persisted until at least 1968; in 1975 it became home to St. Paul's A.M.E. Zion Church, renamed Varick Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church two years later. Greater Works Christian Fellowship has occupied the space since 2006.
