Dem Treverer Gaius Julius Primus, Sohn des Adarus, Reiter un Ordonnanz der Ala Noricorum, 27 Lebensjahre, 7 Dienstjahre. Der Erbe hat von sich aus (den Grabstein) machen lassen.

Die Truppeneinheit in der Primus diente war in Burginaium (Altkalkar) stationiert. Primus stammte aus dem Gegend von Trier und diente der kavalerie als Ordonnanz im Stab seiner Einheit. Er war römischer Bürger, wie an seinem dreiteiligen Namen zu anerkennen ist. Im unteren Bild ist ein Pferdeknecht mit dem Pferd und den lanzen des Primus dargestellt. Das obere Bild zeigt Primus beim mahl.

De Trevier Gaius Julius Primus, zoon van Adarus, ruiter en ordonnans van het Ala Noricorum, 27 jaar oud, 7 dienstjaren. De erfgenaam heeft zelf (de grafsteen) laten maken.

De legereenheid waarin Primus diende was in Burgunaium (Altkalkar) gestationeerd. Primus kwam uit de omgeving van Trier en diende in de cavalerie als ordonnans in de staf van zijn eenheid. Hij was een Romeins burger, zoals zijn driedelige naam aangeeft. In de scene onderaan is een paardenknecht met zijn paard en een lans te zien. In de bovenste scene zien we Primus aan de maaltijd.

The Trevier Gaius Julius Primus, son of Adarus, horseman and aide-de-camp of the Ala Noricorum, 27 years old, 7 years of service. The heir has had (this tombstone) erected.

The unit in which Primus served was stationed in Burginaium (Altkalkar). Primus came from the area around Trier and served the cavalry as an aide-de-camp in his unit's staff. He was a Roman citizen as his trifold name suggests.

In the bottom scene we can see a stable boy with his horse and a lance. In the upper scene we see Primus at a meal.
