Summary[edit]

Description
English: Minnesota Governor Dayton signing legislation to protect Minnesota police officers. The new law modifies the felony crime of fleeing a peace officer, expanding the definition to include individuals who flee by foot. The legislation stems from the death of Minneapolis Parks Police Officer Mark Bedard, who was hit by a car and killed while chasing a suspect on foot. Governor Dayton is joined by the bill's chief authors Senator John Harrington and Representative John Kriesel, as well as members of Officer Bedard's family.
