Description
Română: Gheorghe Tattarescu - Stareţa Mănăstirii Răteşti (Eugenia Greceanu), Muzeul Municipiului Bucureşti, lucrare semnată și datată în lateral, dreapta, spre mijloc, cu ocru Tattarescu 1852, inscripţie stânga sus, cu roşu: "Eugenia Monachio Greceanu, Stareţa M-rei Răteşti, 1852", 80x62,8 cm, ulei pe pânză. Biserica mănăstirii Rătești, ce poartă hramul Sfintei Treimi, din județul Buzău, a fost ridicată în anul 1844 de către episcopul Chesarie, care a angajat pe Nicolae Teodorescu și pe nepotul acestuia, Gheorghe Tattarescu, să o picteze, în tehnica frescei. Edificiul a fost inclus, în anul 2015, în lista monumentelor istorice, însa pictura originală nu s-a păstrat. Acea pictură, în care personalitatea pictorului se afirma deja, se pare că l-a convins pe episcopul Chesarie că tânărul Tattarescu merită să meargă la studii în străinătate, călătorie ce a început chiar în primăvara anului următor, în 1845.
