Description

A German destroyer beached on the French coast during May (or June?) 1944. The following German torpedo boats (destroyer escorts) and destroyers were sunk at that time:
T 29: sunk 26 April 1944 by HMCS Haida (G63) and other Canadian destroyers between St. Malo and the Ile de Batz, France (48-53N 03-33W);
T 27: driven aground by HMCS Haida (G63) 29 April 1944 off Pontusval (48-40N 04-23W), damaged by aircraft the following day, finally sunk by RN MTB 673 with a torpedo on 7 May;
ZH 1: sunk 9 June 1944 off the Ile de Batz (48-47N 04-07W) by the destroyer HMS Ashanti;
Z 32: driven ashore on 9 June 1944 on the Ile de Batz (48-47N 04-07W) by HMCS Haida and HMCS Huron, destroyed subsequently by RAF Bristol Beaufighters of 144 and 404 squadrons;

Z 24 and T 24: sunk 24 August 1944 off Le Verdon in the Bay of Biscay by RAF Bristol Beaufighters of 236 and 404 squadrons (45-31N 01-05W).
