Summary[edit]

Description

I'm catching up posting a few photos from a visit to this Museum in August. It's closing for two years in January 2018 for what their <a href="https://www.geffrye-museum.org.uk/" rel="nofollow">website says are "exciting renovations planned"</a>. So this is a reminder for anyone who has it on their to-do list.

The museum bills itself as "a museum of the home", saying that it: "explores the home from 1600 to the present day. Evocative displays of London living rooms and gardens illustrate homes and home life through the centuries, reflecting changes in society, behaviour, style and taste." "Set in beautiful 18th-century almshouse buildings, the museum is surrounded by gardens - a much-loved oasis in the heart of inner-city London."

The description of beautiful buildings and gardens is accurate. And that includes additional modern structures which are also attractive. Though the displays of <a href="https://www.geffrye-museum.org.uk/explore-the-geffrye/period_rooms/" rel="nofollow">period rooms</a> seemed to be only about well-do-do middle class homes.
