  • Jayvee Enaguas (HarvettFox96) reviewed the copyright for the animated short film on November 16, 2021, which includes most materials and elements and excludes Porky Pig.
    • At the opening title card sequence, it has a copyright notice that reads "Copyright MCMXLII by The Vitaphone Corp. All rights reserved."
    • Vitaphone filed a registration entry of the animated short film on May 9, 1942.
    • Warner Bros.-Seven Arts (later known as Warner Bros., the latter of which acquired Sunset Productions/Guild Films library containing pre-1943 black-and-white titles) didn't file a renewal entry of the animated short film for the copyright within a required 28-year period throughout 1969 (1, 2) and 1970 (1, 2).
    • Therefore, the animated short film entered the public domain on the first day of January 1971.
  • The animated short film is freely available and distributable in both physical and digital formats.

This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1963, and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed.
