Summary[edit]

Description
English: Freedoom is a free/libre game (IWAD) for the Doom engine, also known as id Tech 1. ENDOOM is a colorful ANSI text screen shown when Doom exits. This work is Freedoom's variant of ENDOOM, shown when Freedoom exits. It is the first ENDOOM replacement "lump" introduced to Freedoom; newer releases have introduced one of many URIs to identify the project homepage.

Notes[edit]

  1. English: A third-party software tool (e.g. SLADE) is required to extract the lump from Freedoom's doom2.wad [sic]. Alternatively, exiting the game to DOS screen can be used to trigger the text output.
  2. a b
English: Csabo is not credited for ENDOOM lump in the CREDITS file. In fact, one could be misled to believe Colin Phipps may be the author because the first line credits Colin Phipps for Binary lumps (playpal, colormap etc). This was a misbelief. Freedoom 0.2 (and quite likely Freedoom 0.1) has a file named ChangeLog, where Csabo is credited as follows:
    20/8/2001

    …

d_betwee replacement from csabo, and also an ENDOOM replacement

    Freedoom 0.2 ChangeLog

The old file path was named lumps/csabo/endoom.lmp. The old ChangeLog file is no longer present in newer releases.
  3. English: Freedoom v0.1 was released on 16 April 2003. The source code was subsequently imported to version control by Simon Howard (alias "fraggle") on 9 May 2006, starting with Freedoom v0.5 release.
