Summary[edit]

Description
English: Contemporary sketch of the 30 April 1881 wedding at Westminster Abbey between Frances Evelyn "Daisy" Maynard, (1861-1938), and Francis Greville, Lord Brooke (1853-1924). The bride wore a white satin and lace dress with veil held by a spray of orange blossom, and a train held by twelve bridesmaids. The Bishop of St Albans officiated. Prince Leopold was best man. Guests included Queen Victoria, Princess Louise, and the Prince and Princess of Wales. Tenants from their Easton and Warwick estates were in the congregation. The scene shows the couple leaving the Abbey, the procession accompanied by Mendelssohn's wedding march.
Daisy Greville, the sole beneficiary of the Maynard fortune, and of Easton Lodge, Little Easton, Essex, was an English courtesan and socialite, later turned champagne socialist.
