| Description |
English: The former Walter Kaminski Meat Market, 1315 Broadway, Buffalo, New York, May 2020. Built c. the first decade of the 20th century, its design is attributed to architect Władysław Zawadzki, albeit by a source that's not very reliable; if true, it's a far cry from his most distinctive work - a rather ordinary wood-framed industrial vernacular "Buffalo double" approximating the American Foursquare style. Waldemar (later Walter) Kaminski operated his meat market here from 1933 until his death in 2006 at an advanced age; a philanthropist of local renown, Kaminski Park, on the campus of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, is named in honor of his generosity to the hospital. At least one of the apartments in the rear of the building and on the second floor are occupied, but the storefront is currently vacant. |
