English: Iron or Steel
Fork. Fragment of cutlery, with a round-section whittle tang to engage a bone handle (now lost), bolster and slightly expanded moulded stem, and (probably) the stubs of two tines. Table forks are rare amongst cutlery from Post-Medieval London, only gaining popularity in the Post-Medieval period; steel examples of this form are dated to the 18th and 19th centuries. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1750-1850.
Length: 66.57mm, Width: 16.42mm, Diameter (stem): 6.63mm, Weight: 10.87gms.
