Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lattice image of a Pd icosahedral twin grown in a polymer matrix as an electroless plating catalyst, taken with a Philips EM430ST transmission electron microscope. Note the 10-fold symmetric-array of spots in the diffraction pattern, which appear because we are viewing the twin down one of its twelve 5-fold symmetric orientations. This digital-darkfield tableau of the image outlines the bowtie-crystals within the assemblage which contribute to each spot in the power spectrum[1].
