Location - Lake Vyrnwy, Wales Year Taken - December 2014 Camera - Hasselblad 500C/M Lens - Carl Zeiss 80mm f/2.8 Film - Ilford PanF 50 Well here is the first image that I have scanned from my Hasselblad 500C/M. I sent off the film rolls before Christmas, and only got them back today. Anyway, I have to say I am rather happy with the results. What strikes me immediately is the sharpness of these images. Granted, digital photography is sharp, but this is in a whole different league. Remember, this is unsharpened. This has been scanned from negative and nothing else. All digital images get sharpened in camera, and then almost certainly sharpened in post-production. This is nothing more than lens and film, and look at how much detail it renders. Ilford PanF 50 is not the greatest black and white film out there, but it is fantastic for detailed, low grain landscapes. It has quite a low contrast, in my opinion, but the tonal graduation is fantastic. In some ways, Im worried that these images have come out so well. Part of me, a small, quite voice in the back of my mind, was hoping they would be awful. Then I could have gotten rid of the whole idea of film and carried on as I was. Now, I have a decision to make... |
