Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A photo of one end of a fireworks breakout box. A number of binding posts are visible on top of the box.

This variety of breakout box is used as part of a firing system for electrically setting off firework shells that are launched into the air. One or more fireworks that are to be electrically launched are located near the breakout box and each firework is equipped with an electric match that is connected to binding posts on the breakout box. In addition, the breakout box has a multi-pin connector, which is not visible in this photo, and this connector is used to connect the breakout box to a firing panel or control unit. The connection between the breakout box and firing panel is typically done via a long cable, so it is possible for the fireworks and breakout box(es) to be located some distance away from the operator or technician who is setting off the fireworks. It is possible with this breakout box to have multiple fireworks connected via different binding posts with the arrangement that specific fireworks are individually launched at different times.
