English: Fan Hir Moraine A spectacular depositional ridge parallels the impressive scarp of Fan Hir. This glacial feature is described variously as a moraine, a pronival rampart and a protalus rampart. Take your pick - expert opinion is still divided! Was there a glacier under the steep eastern cliffs of Fan Hir or simply a snow slope down which debris tumbled to pile up at its foot? Either way this spot is seen to advantage from the Beacons Way which passes by here. |
