Description
English: The distinctive giant mimivirus (APMV) virion factory in full production (8 h post infection in Acanthamoeba castellanii). The dark circle (about 4.5 µm in diameter) is the virion factory from which mimivirus particles can be seen emerging, first empty, then filled with a dense core, then covered with their outer fiber layer (transmission electron microscopy).
