The twelve-story brick and stone building, also known as the first skyscraper in Los Angeles, towers above the street and other buildings in the background below. Four horse-drawn wagons, numerous bicycles, and small groups of pedestrians are visible on the sidewalk and street below. Electric wires criss-cross the street for the use of streetcars (not visible).
