Description
English: François Eugène Latapi, son of Jacques Latapi and Anne Loustaunau, was born in Izeste in the department of Basses-Pyrénées (today Pyrénées-Atlantiques), July 13, 1824. In December 1854, he moved to Mexico . He was imprisoned in 1859 for political reasons. He married María Juana of the Soledad Tomasa Rangel on February 4, 1864 in Texcoco (Mexico). From this union were born six children including four out of wedlock. Photographer, he is the owner of a photo shop in the historic center of Mexico City. He then goes up to Texcoco, a glass factory in Los Vidrios de Texcoco, which still exists today. Eugène Latapi died on November 14, 1868 in Mexico City at the age of 44. He had family in Arudy in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques where his counterpart, photographer Georges Penabert (Arudy 1825 - Paris 1903), whose family had emigrated to Brazil, comes from. During a trip to France in 1866, Eugène Latapi addresses Penabert in his studio in Paris, for his photographic portrait.

Au mois de décembre 1854, il s'installe au Mexique. Il est emprisonné en 1859 pour des raisons politiques. Il se marie avec María Juana de la Soledad Tomasa Rangel le 4 février 1864 à Texcoco (Mexique) . De cette union sont nés six enfants dont quatre hors mariage. Photographe, il est le propriétaire d'un magasin de photos dans le centre historique de Mexico. Il monte ensuite une usine de fabrication de verre à Texcoco, Los Vidrios de Texcoco qui existe encore de nos jours. Eugène Latapi est mort le 14 novembre 1868 à Mexico à l'âge de 44 ans. Il avait de la famille à Arudy dans les Pyrénées-Atlantiques où est originaire son homologue, le photographe Georges Penabert (Arudy 1825 - Paris 1903) dont la famille avait émigré au Brésil. Lors d'un voyage en France en 1866, Eugène Latapi s'adresse à Penabert dans son atelier à Paris, pour son portrait photographique.
