Summary[edit]

Description
English: Front cover of the guide for the "Degenerate Art Exhibition" (Entartete Kunst Ausstellung), a propaganda show organized by the Nazi Party ridiculing "un-German and unhealthy" art by Jewish and modern painters and sculptors. The exhibition was first shown in Munich, Germany from 19 July to 30 November 1937; The catalogue, however, was published in Berlin (1937), ready as a visitor's companion when the art was on display in the Berliner Kunsthalle from 26 February to 8 May 1938. The exhibition kept on touring several cities in Germany and Austria until 1941, constantly changing some of the diplayed works. The sculpture in the cover photo is "Der neue Mensch" ("L'Homme nouveau") made by Otto Freundlich (1878–1943) in 1912.
