Description
Deutsch: Eine weibliche, heterochrome (anders als die Männchen gefärbte) Gemeine Becherjungfer (Enallagma cyathigerum) in der grünen Farbvariante am Ufer des Oberrheins bei Breisach, südwestliches Baden-Württemberg. Dieses ältere Weibchen zeigt eine ungewöhnlich starke Verschmutzung des Abdomens und der Flügel, die eventuell durch Anhaftung von Schwebstoffen während der Unterwasser stattfindenden Eiablage zu erklären ist. Einzig die Komplexaugen sind klar, diese wurden von der Libelle offensichtlich gereinigt.
English: A heteromorph (non male coloured) female of the Common Blue Damselfly (Enallagma cyathigerum), here the green variety, on the banks of the Upper Rhine at Breisach, southwestern Baden-Württemberg, Germany. This older female shows an unusually heavy contamination of abdomen and wings, which may be explained by adhesion of dirt during the underwater oviposition. Only the compound eyes are clear, obviously they were cleaned by the damselfly.
