Title
English: Employee working in the stockroom at Crescent Manufacturing Company, Seattle, circa 1923
Description
English:

The Crescent Manufacturing Company was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1883 as Larsen Extract Company. By the early 20th century, Crescent was manufacturing 75 different extracts including Mapleine, as well as importing spices, coffee, and nuts. Crescent was sold to McCormick and Company in 1989, and consolidated its operations in Kent, Washington in 1990. Pictured here is an employee stacking cartons of Mapleine in the stockroom at Crescent Manufacturing Company on Railroad Street South and South Connecticut Street, now Alaskan Way South and South Royal Brougham Way.

Caption on facing page: A PORTION OF THE STOCKROOM. A pile of Mapleine ready for shipment. This pile contains 2592 cans, or enough Mapleine to flavor 933,120 gallons of ice cream or 1,119,744 quarts of Mapleine syrup. This is only a portion of a car load. Periodically car load shipments are made to the market centers of the United States. Mapleine manufactured in Seattle is bottled in a branch plant at Toronto for Canadian trade. It is the third most popular flavor. Handwritten on image: 110714.
