Summary[edit]

Description
English: Letter mailed at the Egyptian post office at Chios in 1879. Chios was part of the Ottoman Empire until its annexation to Greece in 1912.
The letter, franked with a regular Egyptian stamp is cancelled by "V.R. Posta Egiziane Scio". The letter was routed to the Egyptian post office in Constantinople, transferred to the French post office there, sent by steamer to Odessa, and from there sent by rail to Galatz in Moldavia, Romania.
