If attacks of tonsillitis are frequent, if the tonsils are enlarged chroni-cally, if they cannot be kept clean, then they should be removed. In a certain sense tonsils can be outgrown. Tonsils enlarged enough tointerfere with breathing in children in time may get much smaller. Goodjudgment is required to decide which cases can be left to outgrow theirtrouble. KEEP TONSILS CLEAN When inspection shows the tonsils and adenoids enlarged, when the his-tory records frequent sore throats and colds, and occasional earaches, thedoctor is called upon to decide whether the enlarged structures should orshould not be removed.
