English: Double-page from the juz' 9 of the Sultan Barquq's Qur'an. Chapter 7, al-A‘raf (The Heights), verses 90nn. Copied by ‘Ali ibn Muhammad al-Mukattib al-Ashrafi (attribution), illuminated by Ibrahim al-Amidi (attribution) perhaps assisted by another artist. Donated by a deed of waqf (religious endowment) to a mosque in Cairo by Sultan Faraj ibn Barquq (1399 - 1412), probably originally commissioned by Sultan al-Ashraf Sha'ban or his mother Khawand Baraka.
