Happy Macro Monday, everyone! My photography skills were finally put to the test on the job. I work for a company that sells customized hardware. The big round disc surrounded by all of the metal shavings goes into a component created by one of our customers. We pay our supplier extra dollars to thoroughly clean this material after the manufacturing process so it is free of all debris. That means those curly-shaped strips of metal are not supposed to exist. When we informed the careless craftsmen of their neglect they were quick to deny the problem and placed the burden of proof on us. My boss knows that I’m a photographer so he sent an email asking if the “company photographer” could send a picture of the little metallic stowaways to the fabricating fabricators. I quickly grabbed a bag of 500 discs bearing the problematic lot number. Carefully cutting open the plastic I dumped the contents onto the counter. I was amazed at how much debris there was. So much that it didn’t take long to form this little configuration. I shot it with my iPhone, did some quick processing in the Snapseed app, and sent it off to our supplier where, upon receipt, they knew immediately they were in trouble.
